About Me

I'm a lover of nature and everything in it. Being outside has always been a part of me, and from a young age I was able to find the beauty and wonder in everything, from the graceful white-tailed deer to the delicate fruiting bodies on moss.

I'm a huge NASCAR fan. Forgive me for being so passionate about a sport that uses so much fuel, but it's a love that I can't and won't change. Once you immerse yourself into the world of racing, it's difficult to tear yourself from it. I fell in love with the people and the excitement, and there's no going back.

My family is the most important thing in my life - my mom and twin sister are everything to me. I also have a small zoo: Chassis, a German shepherd / pit bull / husky (?) mix; Malachite (Mooey), a black Manx cat; Pippin, a silver tabby cat; and Napa, Caper, Oregano and Chicory, all guinea pigs. In the past I've had many more and can remember every one of them. They all light up my days and teach me about responsibility, patience, humor and love most of all.

I'm a The Lord of the Rings freak. I enjoy reading long and interesting books.

I go to school at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, majoring in Natural History and Interpretation. I used to be a Wildlife Science major, but switched when I realized I'd rather write stories about nature, not scientific reports (I'm not saying those reports aren't vitally important; they're just not for me!). SUNY ESF is a wonderful college chock full of fascinating (and eccentric, to put it lightly!) people. I've made wonderful friends here and I'll never forget them.

My name is Jessica - call me Jess.

(I've learned that names aren't the most essential part of things)
